The Joint Parliamentary Select Committee on IEBC reforms has concluded its work and handed over its report.
Among prominent proposals the Committee made is the disbandment and reconstitution of the electoral body which is a good idea taking into account the fact that the 2017 general elections are less than a year away.
The recommendation on the IEBC disbandment is principally good news for the country as the nation plans to hold another high voltage campaign before August 2017.
Other recommendations according to the report is overhauling the voter register.
Cord has consistently maintained that the voter register contains ghost voters who should be cleared before the 2017 elections.
Although majority of Cord's demands were not met, the key agenda that involved sending home Commissioners was met.
It is the hope of every Kenyan that the new Commissioners will be focused at overseeing a poll devoid of violence.
This, can only be achieved if members who will constitute the new body remain objective.
