Political analyst Mark Bichachi. He believes sacking IEBC commissioners will not help end election malpractices in the October polls. (twitter.com)Political analyst Mark Bichachi has dismissed sacking of IEBC officials will lead to a free, fair, transparent and credible election.
According to Bichachi, the election malpractices committed in the August polls was through the election system and not through IEBC commissioners.
He believes both the electronic and manual electoral systems were manipulated and if the officials are replaced, the mischief will still be carried out by the new commissioners.
"The August elections were marred by problems in whole electoral system. Changing the officials will not help anything in case the system is sanitized. If left with all the cited challenges, the new commissioners may also used the old system to manipulate the whole process," said Bichachi.
Bichachi further called on IEBC to come up with a good communication strategy to stop constant friction with the other election stakeholders. He believes the constant critic from both NASA, Jubilee and other parties is caused by poor communication that fails to clarify certain important issues.
"The commission should also come up with a goo communication strategy. The constant criticism from all corners is due to poor conveyance of important information. To avert further crises, the commission must incorporate all stakeholders in important decision making processes," added Bichachi.
The analyst made the remarks on Tuesday during Citizen Extra show on Citizen TV.
