The elderly in Kisii have accused the county government of neglect on issuing money belonging to the old.
According to a number of them, they claimed that the government has made it hard for them to access the money despite countless efforts.
“I have made a number of attempts to apply for the funds but unfortunately, I have never received any money despite the money being available,” said Araka Mirera.
They have raised concern saying they are old and most of them are not able to fend for themselves.
“Most of us can no longer work due to old age. The hard economic times make it hard for our children to fend for themselves," said Francis Nyachae.
"The government should seek to protect our needs and provide financial security,” he added.
Some said the money would help them seek medication as at their age most of them are vulnerable to illnesses.
“I suspect some people are taking advantage of the funds and pocketing it. The county government should ensure the money reach to us,” said Solomon Gesaka.
