A committee of Senior Counsels has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to cease threatening the Judiciary.
The counsels said that such threats amount to attacks on the rule of law.
They said that threatening the courts will encourage breach of laws and introduce a culture of extra-judicial methods of dealing with situations.
“It is not surprising that there is an upsurge of extra judicial killings by security agents for the ultimate effect of deprecating the Judiciary is the subversion of the constitution and total breakdown of peace, law and order and all civil authority,” said a statement from the Committee.
This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto last week criticised the courts over the manner they handled election-related cases.
