A Machakos County government official has been charged with defiling a minor.
The accused, Mr Paul Mutunga alias Kindawa is alleged to have committed the offence on July 22, 2016 within the Machakos Level Five Hospital staff quarters.
Mutunga, a senior official at the Machakos County Inspectorate department also faced a second charge of an indecent act with a child, contrary to section 11(1) of the Sexual Offences Act.
He denied both charges when he appeared before Machakos Senior Resident Magistrate Irene Kahuya.
Mutunga's lawyer J.Kyalo successfully secured bail for his client by arguing that the accused was a law abiding citizen who would adhere to all conditions should he be granted temporary freedom.
The prosecution led by Mr Vincent Mamaba did not oppose the bail application by the defence lawyer.
Mutunga was released on a Sh200,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh100,000 with a similar surety.
The hearing of the case has been set for September 6, 2016.
