The Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) board has sent two top management officials on compulsory leave for misappropriation of funds.

Three other officers are also on suspension for gross misconduct and embezzlement of public funds. The board’s chairman Onyango Oloo said the officials have wide-ranging issues leveled against them.

“There are a number of issues that touch on integrity of these officials, corruption alongside other ill activities,” he said.

Oloo said the board early last month constituted a committee to look into their conducts and came out with a report linking them to the allegations.

He said the officials were told to step aside as the committee continue with further investigations noting that the board had a meeting yesterday and unanimously agreed to take that stand.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday at Imperial hotel, Oloo declined to mention the names of the affected officials noting that the board must first write to them the passed resolution.

He further noted that the cabinet secretary in the line ministry must be notified of the board’s action before he could divulge their names.

“I will give out the names to the authority and the public so that they know the people we have taken action against,” he said.

However dockets that were under investigations include, managing director, chief finance officer, corporate affairs and chief maintenance technical services.
