A senior police officer from former Nyanza province has termed Interior Cabinet Secretary ‘dictator’ and urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight for the plight of police officers.
On Thursday Nkaissery warned police officers from suing the government in court whenever they had pressing issues, leaving members of the force with little option when seeking justice.
But the officer who spoke on Friday on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter accused Nkaissery and challenged him to ‘live’ in the present.
“It’s really absurd that someone doesn’t want police officers to seek justice in the court. The CS has shown how dictatorial he is which may not work best in the police force,” said the officer.
“He must now live in present because Kenyans have a new constitution which treats everyone equal and no one can vandalise our rights," said the officer.
"We are entitled to seek justice whenever we feel the state is not fair in handling some of our individual plights and its time the president intervenes,” added the officer.
The officer further challenged the Nkaissery to work towards improving the housing of the officers rather than reverting to intimidations and threats.
“We are employed to protect the public and that doesn’t mean we should keep quiet when our rights are violated," said the officer.
"It’s in courts where we seek justice and after all police officers are arraigned in court in some instances so it’s amusing that he doesn’t want us to seek justice,” the officer added.
“Let him concentrate on improving our housing and many other challenges we are going through rather than adding more problems,” the officer said.
