Speaking at a press conference in Machakos on Wednesday, the chief veterinarian in Machakos county Dr David Waweru passed the news across saying that the vaccination process already started and 1700 cows and 3300 goats have already been vaccinated in the last past week.

"The heavy rains experienced in the last about two months caused an outbreak of some diseases which lower yields of cattle and some can even kill the animals.

The Machakos county government has availed vaccines against these diseases and I, therefore, urge everyone in the mentioned areas to make sure their cattle benefit from the ongoing process," said Dr Waweru.

Waweru mentioned that among the diseases the animals will be vaccinated against are Anthrax, Black water, liverflukes in goats, Red water, Rinderpest, Foot-Hoof and mouth diseases.
