The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chair Sarah Serem has assured that rights and privileges of civil servants will be protected in the going job and salary evaluation exercise.

Speaking when she paid a courtesy call on Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Thursday, Serem said that the job evaluation is part of the SRC’s mandate. She assured that the workers at both the county and national government will be protected.

“As SRC, we want to assure civil servants that their rights will not be infringed upon in the ongoing job evaluation,” she said.

Serem said that harmonisation of salaries for State workers will go a long way in improving service delivery. She observed that most State workers, especially at lower job cadre,s have been raising concerns of poor salaries.

She said that every worker is entitled to good pay depending on the work done adding that the commission will advise on the allowances State workers are entitled to after the evaluation process.

According to Serem, the job and salary evaluation will take six months before the commission advises on way forward.

She said that similar evaluation exercise targets constitutional offices, independent offices and government parastatals.

Governor Mandago said that the county government will support the SRC.

He observed that the county spends a lot on salaries and that it will be good if salaries are harmonised.
