Nakuru county commissioner Mohammed Birik has asked police in the county to commit to serving the public.
Addressing reporters at his office, the commissioner said that security officers have a responsibility to protect Kenyans and their property.
The commissioner said that the police will remain committed to theior work and wipe out criminal gangs.
“I want to challenge al security officers across Nakuru to commit their services to Kenyans,” said the Commissioner.
Commissioner Birik warned that criminals will not be given room to cause havoc in the county.
He observed that measures have been put in place to guarantee safety for every citizen adding that locals must supplement police efforts to fight crime.
He stated that the public has a big role to play when it comes to security matters. “Members of the public should feel free and work with us,” he said.
Birik also said that programmes will be launched soon to sensitize the public on the need of working closely with the police.
He said that police are not enemies and that the public should accommodate them even as they fight crime.
The commissioner further said that they are working with the county government to implement security measures being formulated by the national government.
