The Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (Kudhehia) has threatened to down tools starting Monday January 9, after salary hike talks with government collapsed.
Kudhehia secretary general Albert Njeru said the unions failed to reach a decisive agreement with the government over a 2013-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Njeru accused the Inter-Public University Councils Consultative Forum (IPUCCF) of failing to offer an alternative proposal for the CBA and vowed to lobby union members to down tools starting Monday.
Learning operations in universities and services in domestic institutions such as hotels are likely to be paralysed.
"We are disappointed in IPUCCF. They did nothing about the proposal we gave them in December 2012 for the 2013-2017 CBA. We as union leaders have run out of patience,'' he said.
According to Njeru, their salaries have not been reviewed since 2010.
