Seven men were today arrested in Gachororo village, Juja sub-county after police in the area found them drinking at 8am in illicit brew dens. Confirming the incident in his office, Juja OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that the seven were arrested after police were tipped by some members of the public about the den. The Police boss said that the den passed off as a barber shop in a bid to keep police officers away.

Thuranira stated that the fight against illicit brew is going to be enhanced especially in the slum areas where the drinks are popular.

He added that the owner of the place escaped after being tipped by his colleague who saw the police.

However he added that police are searching for her as she is said to have been evading the police.

“The fight against illicit brew is basically a community war and we are not going to loosen our efforts. We are working closely with the public to ensure we curb this menace. However, I want to warn those in this business that their days are numbered. Residents caught drinking the illicit brew will also be arrested,” said the police boss.
