Seven persons on Thursday morning cheated death after the car they were travelling in plunged into the Indian Ocean. According to an eyewitness, the driver of the Toyota Fielder registration number KBR 258T, lost control after the vehicle developed mechanical problems before reversing and plunging into the ocean. The witness also revealed that the vehicle had just disembarked from MV Jambo at the Likoni crossing channel. The occupants of the vehicle, however, alighted from the vehicle before it plunged into the ocean. It is reported that the driver had asked the passengers to alight from the vehicle upon realising that it had developed mechanical issues.“The car developed mechanical problems as it disembarked from the ferry and so the driver had come out to check the battery and try to jump start it. Within no time, the car reversed and plunged into the ocean,” said Oscar Mwalimu, a witness, as quoted by Baraka FM.
