Establishment of Heroes CouncilIts main agenda will be to come up with solutions to issues of welfare and support to Kenya's heroes and heroines."So far, using the criteria prescribed in the Heroes Act 2014, we have honoured over 600 heroes. We plan on honouring more heroes this coming December from all parts of the country."2. Recognition of national heroesKenyatta recognized 14-year-old Mary Mokaya, a student at Nairobi's Moi Girls' who lost her life saving her mates in a night fire, which claimed 10 lives, injuring several others."My challenge to the rest of us is to endeavor to touch at least the heart of another Kenyan before 2017 ends. This is what true brotherhood means, as the Swahili adage reminds us "Undugu nikufaana siyo kufanana.”3. Support ahead of fresh presidential electionsHe used the opportunity to ask Kenyans to vote for him in the October 26th polls, saying his administration had set aside Sh25 billion for Free Day Secondary Education starting January 2018.4. Stern warning to threats against IEBCLike any other constitutional commission, Uhuru warned that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should be respected, as it prepares for the October 26 election."We must trust, nurture and safeguard our institutions to enable them grow and perform their functions. To those threatening and intimidating the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), its staff and other entities, this must cease forthwith."5. SecurityUhuru assured security to persons who show up to vote, and those who may not, and warned against blocking anyone who would want to cast the ballot.6. Mogadishu bomblastPresident Kenyatta passed his condolences to victims of the deadly attack in, Somalia which left more than 300 people dead, and several others seriously injured."he attack is a sobering reminder of the dangerous times we live in. I urge all Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons bent on undermining our security from within and without our borders."He also saluted Kenyan soldiers and police officers.7. National Prayer DayKenyatta called on all Kenyans, to engage the country in prayers, on Sunday October 22, which he said would be a National Prayer Day."I call on all Kenyans to converge in their Mosques, Churches, Temples and other places of worship and pray for our Nation."
