A 7-year-old girl lost her life on the spot on Tuesday evening after she was hit by a lorry in Nguluni area Matungulu sub-county, Machakos county along Nairobi- Kangundo road.
The girl was heading home from school when the accident happened. The accident was confirmed by Kangundo Base commander David Okisai, who said that the driver of the lorry was over speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, hitting an electric pole and running over the child who was walking on the side of the road.
Okisai warned drivers against over-speeding where he asked them to be vigilant and be conscious of other road users.
The body of the little girl was taken by the police to Kangundo level four hospital mortuary for preservation.
In another accident along the same road, a 70-year-old woman is nursing serious head injuries after she was hit by a double cabin that veered off the road after the driver lost control.
