Several commuters were on Friday morning injured after chaos erupted at the Likoni ferry channel, over allegations that motorists were being given priority to board the ferry. The aggrieved commuters pelted stones at the motorists, a situation that forced GSU officers and regular police to be deployed to calm the situation. One of the motorists, Patrick Muasya, said trouble started after commuters became impatient and forced their way out of the waiting bay when security personnel allowed vehicles to board the ferry before commuters, The Star reports.“We are lucky we survived and no death was recorded. If people continue to be intolerant with the situation then it might escalate to something else. People are forgetting that it is not the fault of the Kenya Ferry Services for the delays but nature. We should just know how to coexist with different situations such as this,” said Muasya, as quoted by the local daily.Rashid Mwadzambo, a police officer, sustained serious injuries during the commotion.
