A bus belonging to Mombasa Raha Company was on Monday involved in an accident at Katsaka Kairu, along the Lamu-Mombasa road.
The Lamu bound bus is said to have veered off the road before rolling several times.The 11am incident left at least 20 passengers injured with five reported to be in critical condition. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver was over speeding before the incident occurred. Confirming the incident, Lamu West Deputy County Commissioner Louis Rono said no casualties have been reported so far, adding that he is yet to establish the number of passengers who had boarded the bus.“It is true. A bus belonging to Mombasa Raha Company veered off the road and rolled injuring several passengers. No casualties have been reported so far. The incident happened at Kastaka Kairu this morning. The driver was over speeding and was trying to overtake another passenger bus when the accident occurred. I haven’t established the exact number of passengers who were onboard,” said Rono, as quoted by Baraka FM.
