Speaking during celebrations to mark the international day against violence to sex workers, the Kiambu County sex workers spokesman Barrack Richards said that the sex workers maintain security more than the police since would-be perpetrators of crime meet the sex workers on the streets during the night hence fail to commit the crime as they are being watched.

“We are sure that the police don’t know that most of the crimes committed in town are committed in absence of people watching but when the sex workers are in the streets till the late hours of the night they ensure that no criminal activities can be done as they watch,” Barrack commented.

Barrack continued by saying that the police arrest the sex workers and present condoms as exhibit saying that everybody is entitled to good health wherever he or she is and thus no one should be discriminated whether he is carrying a condom or no

He went on to say that some of the policemen are their clients and they steal sex from the workers as they have sex with the workers and fail to pay.

He said that this is one of the violence that they were advocating against that day.

He urged the society to take them as they are as they watch over their property during the night and make sure o crime is done as they watch.

They said they will work with the community policing team to make sure Thika is the safest town and also crime free as they do their business.
