Director of Bar Hostess Empowerment Support Programme (BHEP) Peninah Mwangi has told Justice Koome that it was through sex services that they earned their living, further urging him to stop interfering with their business.

“In any case, sex between two adults should not be of any concern to the government,” Peninah said.

Peninah argued that if the government arrests their male clients, their business will be affected and detriment their male clients' marriages.

Koome had said in an interview for the post of Supreme Court Judge that if male clients are arrested, prostitutes would cease from parading themselves in the streets.

“Prostitution is a worldwide problem... If there is no demand for it, then it would end,” Justice Koome said.
