President Danny Faure of Seychelles was honoured with the 21-gun salute at the start of his visit to Kenya on Monday.
Faure was officially received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House in Nairobi.
He inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Army while the national anthems of Kenya and Seychelles were played by the military band.
The leaders held one-on-one talks before their delegations joined them for discussions on bolstering cooperation between their countries.
They discussed matters including maritime security, intelligence sharing and capacity building.
Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner for Kenya and Seychelles, which both have beaches.
They stand to benefit from the sharing of best practices, training and exchange programmes, joint marketing strategies and joint packaging of destinations.
On employment opportunities, Kenya stands to benefit by encouraging qualified citizens to seek employment in Seychelles.
The country requires well-trained and skilled workers for various sectors.
