Moiben MP Sila Tiren and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi argued that this move will reduce cargo and passenger transport by road.Speaking to the Star magazine in Eldoret town, Tiren and Sudi were speaking after complaints from hundreds of passengers were stranded due to higher fares as a result of the night travel ban. In a similar incidence, Muslim preachers and Imams through Abubakar Bini supported the suggestion. They further insisted that the night travel ban should have been extended to some hours into the night, for the PSV vehicles. To reduce congestion in Eldoret town as a move to ease transport, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has announced that there would be the construction of a Sh5.1 billion southern bypass, which will be set to begin in the course of the month.Speaking in Eldoret town, Mandago said, “This is a long-awaited project ... we are happy it will be done soon so we can decongest Eldoret town." he further noted that contractors were already on site ready to begin work in two weeks’ time.A road which was commissioned by the Jubilee party will run from Ngeria along Eldoret-Nairobi road and through the southern parts of the town near Eldoret International Airport, before rejoining Eldoret-Bungoma Highway at Jua Kali.
