Operations at one of Standard Gauge Railway construction sites in Mai Mahiu, Naivasha were paralysed on Wednesday after workers downed tools citing poor working conditions.
The more than 150 workers from Pipeline camp claimed they were being exposed to dangerous working environment by the Chinese contractor.
They said the contactor has been ferrying them in open trucks from Mai Mahiu thus exposing them to accidents and dust.
James Kamu, a worker at the site disclosed that the contractor had ignored their call of being transported by buses.
This comes as 10 people sustained serious injuries after a truck carrying 70 workers rolled several times.
"The driver was ferrying workers from Nachu site to their homes, when he lost control and the truck rolled, injuries, some seriously,"he said.
He further revealed that after consultation, the contractor decided to build sleeping structures at the working sites where they will be spending their night.
Naivasha deputy commissioner Isaac Masinde said the issue and been raised in his office, adding that they were making efforts to find a solution.
