About 300 Kenyan workers at the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) have been issued with one-year contracts.

This is after the workers threatened to strike over lack of contracts.

The workers hired by China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) were granted the new contracts after their probation period expired in April.

“Your salary will be paid monthly on the basis of Sh84 per hour. Holidays, vacations, time offs and other related benefits will be in accordance with the company policy as explained by your supervisor. “The salary and benefits may change from time to time without affecting the other terms of your employment,” the Business Daily quotes a section of a contract.
