[Photo|Migori County Assembly]Members of the Migori County Assembly led by Speaker Boaz Okoth Owiti joined the County Governor Zachary Okoth Obado and other County officers to flag off over 200 students who will be joining Form 1 in various schools this year.The students qualified to be absorbed in the Governors Scholarship programme that is in its 4th edition.Speaker Owiti requested that the programme should be amended to accommodate more students and also to support the students past secondary school education.Speaking during the event on Monday, he also urged the governor to hasten the Ward Bursary Funds distribution to help other needy students who did not make it to the Governors Scholarship list."This would reduce the burden on the MCAs who are currently feeling the heat from parents at the Wards," he said.This year, the programme will consume over Sh12 million that will be used to pay various schools in form of fees.Some of the schools include: Alliance High, Limuru girls, Kanga High, St. Joseph Rapogi, Lwak girls, Nakuru High, Taranganya boys, Orero boys, Mbita High.Also present during the function include George Omamba (Deputy Speaker), Chairman Education Committee Timon Mbogo, William Abedi Maroa (Budget Chair), among others.
