The Nyando Constituency CDF office has set aside over Sh14 million to be given out to needy students.
Area MP Fred Outa who presided over the disbursement of the bursary cheques on Thursday to secondary school heads said no child will be neglected in giving out bursaries.
Outa said students in secondary schools in the constituency have been given Sh2 million.
He said another Sh2 million has been given to students learning in schools outside the constituency with another Sh2 million set to benefit college and university students.
The MP said more funds have been allocated to total orphans whose school fees will be paid in full.
“The funds are meager but my committee has managed to ensure no child is left out in the distribution,” he said.
He faulted the government for failing to send in time money for students' fees.
Outa said some of the measures put by Education CS Fred Matiang'i are rigid and will affect learning in most schools.
He said there are no enough teachers in schools and Board of Managements have been forced to hire more teachers yet CS Matiang'i has banned extra levies in schools.
School heads also expressed concern that most of the school buses acquired on loans will be carted away since they can not charge development funds.
Outa promised to use CDF to offset some of the loans and promised teachers that no school bus will be towed away.
“It is true most principals have panicked that the school buses will be taken away, I want to assure you that CDF will step in to help in clearing the outstanding bills,” he said.
