Speaking to journalist in Nakuru town on Monday, county deputy governor Joseph Ruto said that plans to purchase the inputs are complete.

He said that all farmers across the 11 sub counties in the county will benefit from the programme that was launched two years ago.

“We want to support our farmers and at the same time encourage more residents to take up farming for purposes of improving food security,” said Ruto.

Ruto said that agriculture is one of the sectors that contribute largely to the county’s economy.

He said that the county will pump more money in farming projects as this will also help to curb unemployment.

Ruto also said that the county is working with stakeholders and will soon launch sensitisation programs to educate locals on proper farming methods.

The deputy governor encouraged youths to venture in agriculture saying it is a lucrative sector.

He said that unemployment rate will go down if young people consider taking up farming as a form of employment.
