A Nyamira County elected MCA has said that Sh1.6 billion development funds will be shared equally to all the 20 wards in the region.

Magombo ward MCA Richard Onyinkwa said new methods will be used to share the funds unlike in the past where county leaders decided on the development projects to be given priority. 

“Sh1.6 billion shall be shared equally to all the 20 wards for the MCAs to launch and initiate new projects. No ward will be sidelined or be given less funds,” he said.

Onyinkwa called on the county MCAs to ensure they utilize the funds well to launch various projects in their respective wards without misusing or misappropriating the funds. 

“MCAs should come up with projects to be initiated using the funds and seek public participation to approve the projects so that we don’t witness cases of funds misuse and misappropriation on ghost projects. Projects to be launched should benefit the electorates in the county,” he added. 

He called on local leaders to keep watch on the MCAs and raise alarm whenever public funds will be diverted to individual’s pockets.
