According to the County Water minister, the money will be used to lay out water pipes and tanks across the county.

She said that water is one of the challenges facing locals saying the county is keen to address it.

Njuguna assured locals that they will have piped water before the end of the year.

“The county has set aside adequate funds aimed at ensuring locals have access to clean piped water before the end of the year,” she said at her office in Kiambu on Tuesday.

The Water Executive indicated that construction of underground water pipes and tanks has already begun in various sub counties among them Ruiru, Thika, Limuru, Lari, Kiambu and Gatundu.

He also said that the county has started drilling boreholes to supplement piped water.

“We intend to drill over 300 boreholes across Kiambu before the end of the year,” she said on Tuesday.

The CeC added that the county is targeting to supply piped water to over 300, 000 residents before end year.

At the same time, Ms Njuguna stated that the government will construct and renovate water dams and reservoirs in the county.

Last week while commissioning the Sh6 Million Mwihoko Water project in Ruiru, Governor William Kabogo said his government is committed to tackle water problems.

Kabogo said his government is reaching out to local and foreign investors to help revamp the water sector and ensure residents get access to clean water.
