The County Government of Uasin Gishu has said that it is setting up a Ksh 26 million fire sub station that will be in Eldoret town so as to ensure that there is a speed response to any fire disaster.
Speaking to the press yesterday while at his office in Eldoret town, Nelson Maritim who is the Roads Chief in Uasin Gishu County said that the sub station is going to be situated at the Maili Nne trading centre.
"We want to improve the response of the fire disaster in this county as for a number of times, the fire brigades units have been accused of arriving at the scene of fire either very late or without the neccessary equipments to face the disaster.
This is why the county government have already decided to set up a Ksh 26 million fire sub station that will be situated at Maili Nne", Maritim said.
Maritim went ahead and said that all the preparations are in order and the money has already been set aside. "The funds have already been allocated and all we are waiting now is the completion of the buildings and you will soon see it being launched.
I now call upon all the residents to ensure that they support this move so as we can make this county a disaster free county", Maritim said.
The roads Chief added that all the structures which have been built on roads will soon be demolished so as to pave ways for the roads.
"There are a number of structures which have been built either on the roads or even blocking the road and i want to give a warning to the owners that we are going to demolish them very soon so that we can pave way for the road", Maritim said
