Agriculture principal secretary Dr. Richard Lesiyampe and Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui have launched a pyrethrum program in Molo.

The launching occasion took place at the KALRO farm in Kuresoi North sub-county, with the governor promising extra cash to the county residents when the program comes to completion.

The county government of Nakuru allocated Sh29 million in the budgetary allocation toward the flagging of the pyrethrum revival project. 

Kinyanjui said: “The county Government of Nakuru is committed to reviving the cash crop and we have set aside funds, we are training farmers and we will distribute to them certified seedling and farm inputs.” 

Kinyanjui said that the county is committed to initiating major projects that will help in improving the economy of Nakuru.

Dr Lesiyampe said: "The national government is impressed by the commitment by Nakuru County leadership to revive pyrethrum growing.”

He added: “The national government will release more funds to boost revival of the sector as agriculture is one of the Big 4 Agenda.”
