Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has asked the youth and women from the county to take advantage of the Sh300 million his government has set aside for them to start businesses.
Kabogo says the Youth, Women and Persons with Disabilities Enterprise and Development Fund will go a long way in creating jobs to help thousands of jobless youth and women in the county, if well utilised. He said that the funds can be used to create employment.
“The fund is now operational and the youth should apply for the money. They should also invest in businesses of their choice,” he said.
The governor advised the youth not to put much hope in white collar jobs, saying they are not the only ones that can make a person successful in life.
He added: “People make a lot of money from their businesses. The youth can reap a lot of money from small businesses if done well.”
Kabogo told parents to encourage their children to apply for the cheaper loans for them to start their source of livelihood.
Kabogo was speaking in Thika where he launched the county courts.
