Speaking to Ngoliba farmers on Thursday, Ng'ang'a said that the water irrigation projects is on course and they are just awaiting for funds before the projects kicks off.

She said that residents from the most driest parts of Thika East living in Ngoliba, Kilimambogo, Ndula and Magogo-ini will be the first to benefit from the project.

"We have sat down with the residents of this area and we have found it prudent to start an irrigation project that will enable them to do farming throughout the year without relying on rain. The project will entail drawing water from Athi River that borders Kiambu and Machakos counties and the plans to have it running are at an advanced stage," said Ng'ang'a.

The MP said that the completion of the project will see the area become food-sufficient with residents being financially stable as they will be able to produce enough for themselves and to sell to other parts of Kiambu County and the neighbouring Machakos County. Residents are happy that the project will be starting soon.

"For many years we have lived without a reliable source of water to do farming and over-reliance on rain has seen us endure many years of hunger too yet a big river like At hi just flows in our midst. We appreciate the MP's efforts to make the area food secure," said Jorum Munyua, a 53-year old resident.
