The revelation comes after people on whose land was to be used for the Nyang'ori water project accused the county government of selective compensation.

The Sh3.5 billion project water project which was commissioned last year, is a partnership between the national government and the County Government of Nyamira.

The project is being funded by the African Development Bank.

Majority of those resisting the continuity of the project on Thursday said they want to be compensated for the value of crops and other physical structures which were destroyed as the engineers excavated trenches for the laying of the water pipes.

But Governor John Nyagarama who spoke to this writer on the phone on Friday said the conflict may lead to withdrawal of funding for the project.
