Congestion is set to ease in Kisii town following the plans to build two key bypasses in the county.
The two roads will be one through Gesonso - Botori, and the other joining Nyambera and Kisii - Kisumu highway will cost Sh450 million.
Resident engineer Gordon Okello said the project will be overseen by Kenya Urban Roads Authority and will take 18 months to complete.
"The construction of the bypasses will reduce traffic congestion in Kisii town especially during Mondays and Thursdays when Daraja Mbili market experiences heavy traffic," he said.
The engineer noted that motorists will be using the bypass roads to reach their destinations instead of using the Daraja Mbili market route as it is now.
