A Sh500 million project to recycle waste and produce energy will be set up in Uasin Gishu County.

Director of Kipkenyo dumpsite Joseph Chelule said they have enough waste to be recycled for energy purpose.

"Plans are ongoing to set up a recycling plant in the county to produce energy since there are enough resources", he said.

He confirmed that the dumpsite receives about 350 tonnes of waste daily.

"To recycle waste and produce energy enough waste is required. There is no doubt, the dumpsite is receiving at least 350 tones of waste daily which comes from all over the county", Chelule noted.

County officials Mary Njogu said the county government is in partnership with the Sweden.

She added that enough money has been allocated to complete the project.

"The project will not stop once it starts with enough money to ensure its completed has been set aside by the devolved unit,’’ she assured.
