Each ward will receive Sh1 million to spearhead the war on the deadly virus.

Speaking at Naivasha town over the weekend, Mbugua said that his government is keen to curb and prevent the spread of the virus in the county.

He indicated that statistics from the county health department show that the prevalence of the disease has gone down in recent years.

He attributed the reduction in infections to the massive awareness campaigns being carried out by the government and the private sector.

The governor called for more concerted efforts in the fight against HIV/Aids, which he said still poses a big threat to development.

“We have put in place appropriate measures to oversee the fight against HIV,” he said.

The county boss also said that the government has initiated policies to fight other diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure.

He asked residents to go for regular HIV testing and adopt preventive measures, observing that HIV/Aids has slowed down economic development.
