Sh7.5 million worth milk processing plant has been commissioned in Yatta, Machakos County.
The plant was commissioned by the Machakos deputy Governor Francis Maliti on Wednesday.
Maliti said dairy farmers from the sub county and its environs will benefit from the facility.
"Setting up the milk processing plant in the region will motivate more farmers to invest in dairy farming and improve milk production,” Maliti said.
He spoke during the event in Yatta town.
Maliti said the plant was among other 30 projects to be implemented in various sub counties within Machakos County.
“More projects will be implemented across the county to improve the agricultural sector, farmers should enjoy profits from their farming activities by directly selling their milk to the processing plant since middlemen have exploited the farmers,” Maliti said.
