Shabana Fc players in a past match.The club has disclosed that financial crisis has hampered their performances on and off the pitch leading to their downward spiral in the footballing world.(Photo/kenyapage.net)Former Kenyan football powerhouse Shaban Fc have highlighted their struggles to try and regain their lost glory following their deeper fall into football infamy.The Kisii-based side featured in the Kenyan top flight league, the Kenya Premier League until 2006 when they were relegated to the second tier National Super League and since then, theirs has been a 'football Siberia' occasioned by massive plummeting with the team now taking part in the lowly Division One League.However, in an interview with 'Nation' on Thursday, head coach Andrew Kanuli said that lack of sponsorship has been their greatest undoing."We have been going through hard times since we were relegated from NSL though Dafabet has been assisting us from September this year although they are yet to sign a full deal with the club," he said.They have assisted us with kits and payments of players," he added.Kanuli also called upon the county government of Kisii under the stewardship of governor James Ongwae to aid them as they had earlier promised."The county government had promised to help us from the beginning of the year through the ministry of sports and culture but we have not seen anything from them," he said.In their glory days, the Crashers as they are commonly known were a force to reckon with in the Kenyan football quarters.*Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Nyamira County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
