Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has hit out at Governor Hassan Joho, accusing him of being a cry baby.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Shahbal pocked holes in Joho's development track record, terming him as an incompetent leader.

“Mombasa is tired and fed up of leadership that keeps complaining and crying like little babies, just to divert public attention from its incompetence and zero development record for the past four years,” read part of Shahbal's post.

The outspoken politician said no amount of theatrics and pranks will stop them from asking the Mombasa County government to explain how it has spent the Sh40 billion that was allocated to it by the National Treasury.

“According to the auditor general’s report only one per cent of Mombasa County budget has been spent on development Projects since 2013. We therefore challenge the leadership of the county government to tell us of any single development project that it commissioned and completed since it came to office,” said Shahbal.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday challenged Joho to show what he has done for Mombasa residents with the Sh40 billion he received from the government.

Joho, however, dismissed the claims, saying his county government has only received about Sh17 billion since its inception.
