Mombasa Governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has dismissed the latest opinion poll by TIFA, terming it as 'bogus' and 'cooked'.
The survey results released on Tuesday placed incumbent Governor Hassan Joho ahead of the chasing pack with 68 per cent against Shahbal's 15 per cent.
Shahbal, however, quickly took to his Facebook page dismissing the poll, adding that the results are suspect and are only meant to sway the opinion of the people of Mombasa.
"From the onset, the polls look suspect, and therefore bogus whose results cannot be relied upon to inform the mood on the ground in Mombasa," Shahbal said.
Shahbal who lost to Joho in 2013 believes that the mood on the ground suggests that the 2017 race is going to be a tight contest and that as such, they cannot be swayed by such 'misguided purported research'.
The Jubilee man who is keen to wrestle power from the ODM deputy party leader further appealed to the government to come up with tight regulations to weed out entities which he claims have 'ulterior motives' so that only credible polls can be released to the public.
