Governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has declared that he will clear out drug cartels in Mombasa within the first 100 days if elected governor.

"In the first 100 days in office, I will fight and wipe out drug barons in our streets. I urge the President to help us by fighting the big boys in this illegal business as we tackle the ones stationed in Mombasa,” said Shahbal.Addressing the public at Tononoka grounds on Sunday during a Jubilee rally, Shahbal also promised to address unemployment in the county, adding that his government will create 10, 000 jobs opportunities yearly."65 per cent of youth are jobless while the tax imposed on small scale businessmen is overwhelming, resulting in an unbearable business atmosphere. When I rise to power I'll create a businesses friendly environment and create 10,000 thousands job opportunity every year,” said Shahbal.He also assured residents that no tenant will be evicted from the county houses."We know how they steal, but I Suleiman Shahbal will make sure the county estates are not taken by Hassan Joho as the county government boss and his allies are greedy and full of selfish desires. The 100,000 residents will not be evicted from their units,” he added.According to the county government, the project is aimed at creating affordable housing to meet the growing population which is estimated to reach two million by 2035.On his part, Shahbal's running mate Anania Mwaboza accused Joho of inequality, adding that the communities in Mombasa are not well represented.
