Mombasa businessman Suleiman Shahbal has termed Governor Hassan Joho as an 'attention seeker' who has failed to spur development in the coastal city.
Speaking on Sunday at Tononoka social hall, Shahbal, who has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat, said residents are fed up with Joho's political theatrics.
"The people of Mombasa are fed up with politics of media drama and noise. You cannot have a leader who makes fun of the President or belittles institutions which govern the nation. Enough is enough of this drama," said Shahbal, as quoted by The Star.
Shahbal's sentiments come at a time when Joho has been at loggerheads with the State, culminating in the withdrawal of his security detail which was later reinstated.
Joho, who is also the ODM Deputy Party leader, is seeking to defend his seat which has attracted Senator Hassan Omar, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and former Kisauni MP Anania Mwaboza.
Shahbal lost to Joho during the 2013 elections.
