Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has pledged to bury his political differences with former Kisauni MP Anania Mwaboza ahead of the Jubilee Party primaries.

Shahbal said the campaign to unseat Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will fail if Jubilee leaders from the region remain disunited.

Speaking during a voter registration drive at Tononoka grounds on Sunday, Shahbal said his differences with Mwaboza are a small issue which will soon be resolved.

"My political differences with Mr Mwaboza should be regarded as a small matter. We will soon settle these issues and unite our supporters to ensure victory of our party. We are going to have free and fair nominations," said Shahbal, as quoted by Standard.

The outspoken leader also said that he will reach out to Mwaboza before the primaries to strategise on the way forward.

The Mombasa gubernatorial race has attracted different candidates with Joho seeking to defend his seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
