Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has taken a swipe at NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, terming him a perennial liar.

Shahbal, who spoke during a meeting in which the Kamba community in Mombasa endorsed his candidature, claimed that Raila lied that he will back Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2017 presidential bid.The vocal aspirant said that after the 2013 elections, he urged Kalonzo to declare he will run for the country’s top seat, but the Wiper leader dismissed him, saying he was waiting for Raila’s endorsement.“My brother Kalonzo told me to wait because Raila had promised him the presidency. I told him Raila is a perennial liar, but he never listened. Look at what happened,” said Shahbal, as quoted by The Star. He said he ditched Wiper after Kalonzo opted to shelve his presidential ambition in favour of Raila. He urged the Kamba community to support President Uhuru Kenyatta, arguing that their interest will not be catered for in NASA.“In the last meeting with Kalonzo at his Yatta home, I told him to declare that he will run for the country’s top seat. He said we should wait. I said after I leave the meeting, I will never look back. I will join the winning team Jubilee,” said Shahbal.“Politics is all about interests. Kikuyus and Kalenjins fought in 2007, but they came together for the sake of their community. We need to come together and support Uhuru for the interest of our people,” he added, as quoted by The Star.
