Mombasa gubernatorial contender Suleiman Shahbal has dismissed a list he claims bears names of Jubilee nominees to the County Assembly.

He said the list, whose details he did not highlight, does not bear names of nominees agreed on by Mombasa Jubilee leaders. The list which he said has already been forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) contains names of Jubilee members expected to be nominated as MCAs.“My attention has been drawn to a list circulated by IEBC on the nomination of MCAs for Mombasa County Assembly and I wish to state that I disown that list as not being representative of the wishes of the Jubilee fraternity in Mombasa,” Shahbal said on Sunday.“As Jubilee in Mombasa, we were not consulted. That list should be withdrawn immediately and the one presented by the Jubilee leadership in Mombasa be adopted as the genuine one,” he added. He said as Mombasa Jubilee leaders they will not allow individuals at the Jubilee Party headquarters to suppress the will of the majority and to determine who will be nominated to the County Assembly.“We look forward to immediate action by the party leadership to ensure that the right list is adopted,” he said.
