Mombasa Governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal is the latest politician to condole with the family of the former Finance Minster David Mwiraria who succumbed to cancer on Thursday.

In a condolence message he posted on his Facebook page, Shahbal paid tribute to Mwiraria describing him as a good man who helped him convince retired President Mwai Kibaki that Islamic Banking would contribute positively to Kenya's development."David personally took me to President Mwai Kibaki and helped me convince President Kibaki that Islamic banking would contribute positively to Kenya's development and Kibaki agreed," wrote Shahbal.While wading through the infamous Anglo- Leasing scandal which Mwiraria is accused of orchestrating, Shahbal said that the former Minister who served under the NARC government was troubled by the allegations.Former President Mwai Kibaki and ODM leader Raila Odinga have both eulogised the former Minister as a diligent servant who served the country with dedication.Mwiraria who was forced to step down as Finance Minister over the Anglo Leasing scandal is credited for bringing reforms to various institutions like KRA during his tenure.
