Jubilee’s point man in Mombasa Suleiman Shahbal has dismissed claims that he held a secret meeting with his rivals in the governor race; Senator Hassan Omar (Wiper) and Hezron Awiti (VDP).

This comes after reports emerged that he had met the duo in an attempt to convince them to work together to unseat Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.Shahbal, who is considered Joho’s greatest threat, rubbished claims that he sought to team up with the two, adding that he was shocked when he saw the reports in a section of media.“There was no meeting, I was equally surprised to see such reports because the last time we met was in 2013 when we were all in Wiper,” said Shabhal, as quoted by Baraka FM.The news about the alleged meeting came a few days after Joho accused Omar for being a Jubilee mole. Joho claimed that Omar was being used to divide National Super Alliance votes in the region despite the two being in the same political outfit. “I have information one (Omar) has been sent by Ruto to come and disturb me here. I tell him, don’t allow yourself to be sent. Tell Ruto himself to come here," said Joho during a past function.
