Mombasa Governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal over the weekend took his campaigns to Kisauni constituency, which is considered Governor Hassan Joho's political turf.

Joho ruled the constituency for five years before being elected governor in 2013.While in Kisauni, Shahbal held a series of consultative meetings with Mijikenda leaders and pleaded with them to support his bid to unseat the incumbent. He accused Joho of presiding over a ‘failed county’, adding that the current Mombasa leadership has been a disgrace to the residents and should be voted out in the August 8 elections.Shahbal, who lost to Joho in the 2013 elections, further outlined his development agenda for the county including infrastructural development and creating an enabling business environment. The governor hopeful, who also used the occasion to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta said that under the current Jubilee regime, much development has been realized in the region. He was accompanied by his running mate Anania Mwaboza. With political temperatures in Mombasa set to rise further in the coming days, Shahbal has rolled up his sleeves ready to make amends to his failed gubernatorial bid in 2013. And to do that, he's not leaving anything to chance.
