Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has asked the Mombasa county government under the leadership of Governor Hassan Joho to account for the billions it has received from the national government over the last four years.

The vocal politician, who lost to Joho in the 2013 elections, accused the county government of misusing resources meant for the common mwananchi.Speaking on Friday at Baluchi Hall during a Coast women forum, Shahbal claimed that the Joho-led administration has misused public resources, adding that the Governor does not deserve another term in office. The Jubilee point man in Mombasa said it’s unfortunate to see the Coastal city lagging behind in terms of development yet the region is well endowed with resources.“The county government has failed to account for the forty billion shillings allocated to this county. Previously, this county used to perform so well, but surprisingly since the county government took over, everything has changed. Mombasa is leading from the bottom,” said Shahbal, as quoted by Baraka FM.Shahbal urged the women to reject Joho and instead support him, arguing that he has good plans for Mombasa. He promised to transform the economy of the county if elected the next county boss, adding that more than 200 companies have already expressed interest in investing in Mombasa in the coming years.
