Mombasa Jubilee politician Suleiman Shahbal has warned NASA leaders against holding anti-IEBC protests on Thursday.Shahbal who unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa governor seat in the August 8 general election has urged NASA leader Raila Odinga to call off the planned protests and allow Kenyans to vote peacefully.Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Tuesday, Shahbal said NASA leaders will be committing an election offense by asking their supporters to boycott the repeat poll.“Raila Odinga should stop inciting his supporters to protest and allow the country to conduct and participate in the repeat presidential poll as ordered by the Supreme Court,” he said.Shahbal claimed that NASA leaders are holding the country hostage for their own selfish gains, adding that their statements have created fear and panic among Kenyans and foreign investors.The Mombasa businessman also accused NASA leaders of disobeying the constitution, arguing that Raila is contravening the Supreme Court ruling by advocating for poll boycott.Shahbal asked Kenyans not to be swayed by NASA’s threats and come out in large numbers to vote.He said the government has put in place proper security mechanism’s to guarantee safety and security of every citizen before, during and after the Thursday repeat presidential election.The government has declared Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays to allow Kenyans to participate in the polls.
